Since the 80's, the SC Group professionals have been helping clients successfully navigate schools and programs. The combined experience of Scott Canter, as a program specialist and therapeutic consultant and Dr. Teri Solochek, as a licensed psychologist (PSY11869) is unmatched in the industry. Parents and professionals have relied on The SC Group for finding the right schools, navigating treatment and managing crises for their children, adolescents and young adults. Combining their experience, Scott and Teri have successfully guided thousands through treatment.
Scott Canter began his career in 1987 working with teens as a direct care staff at a therapeutic boarding school. Scott ran groups, provided individual counseling, taught classes and facilitated adventure treatment at the boarding school in Southern California. Over the next 20 years Scott worked in the treatment industry at schools, residential treatment centers and adventure programs. He was materially involved in developing treatment programs in New York, North Carolina and Texas. As the National Director for a large treatment corporation he also supported the acquisition of therapeutic programs in Montana, North Carolina, Oregon and Utah.
In 2009, after more than two decades "on the ground" Scott joined a private consulting firm, establishing their office in Dallas, TX, where he began working directly with families as a private case manager and therapeutic consultant. During his tenure as the firm's Managing Director, Scott supervised a team of therapeutic and college consultants in Atlanta, Austin and Dallas. Scott works with clients nationwide.

In 2024, after over 40 years helping families, Dr. Solochek has decided to step back and will no longer be taking an active role in managing therapeutic cases. Her ongoing friendship and support will continue to be valued beyond measure. Her sage advice will likely be called upon often.
Teri Solochek, Ph.D. Partner Emeritus, began working as a consultant and psychologist in the early 80's. Teri is a nationally recognized expert in guiding families to the best educational and treatment solutions. Together, we will engage in “Criteria Driven Research” to quickly identify the best "level of care." We collaborate with your professional team to gather their clinical criteria, build a plan and implement solutions. We will navigate choices together and implement at your pace.
No schools, programs or specialists are ever considered unless a consultant has personally visited and/or has a direct relationship. The team at the SC Group has been visiting schools and programs for over four decades and maintains a network of trusted resources.
Once a student admits into a school or program, our team will monitor their progress and be available to connect with you.
Clients have full access to their consultant during their agreement.
We promise to be there for you through every step of your journey. We are constantly on the go, striving to increase our knowledge of school and programs. We promise to educate and empower you, so that you can make the best decisions for your family.
The SC Group does NOT accept any financial compensation from schools, programs or professionals for placing students into treatment. Our compensation comes from our clients. We work for you!
Our focus in therapeutic placement matches a student with the right school(s) based on understanding each child’s unique strengths and weaknesses with the schools teaching styles, specialized learning support, class sizes and integrated therapeutic components.
Having a combined 70+ years' experience “on-the-ground” at schools and programs and having spent decades touring hundreds of facilities, our expertise includes long-term relationships with key personnel to assist in managing the transition. We also offer detailed advice on touring and the application process. We open doors...
During a crisis, our focus is to quickly stabilize the situation.
Intervention-assessment programs are typically 30-90 days and provide parents with a thorough understanding of the underlying reasons for behavior and recommendations for next steps.
This approach allows parents to make thoughtful, researched decisions before moving forward. A trap many parents fall into is admitting a child directly into residential treatment and inadvertently place their child into a higher level of care than is clinically warranted.
Our clients have unlimited access to their service provider. Many times, our clients just want to talk. In a crisis, sometimes they need to connect daily. It shouldn’t cost extra to connect. Our approach ensures that you have access when you want it.
The SC Group works with clients located throughout the country.
